Highlights of the study:

Based on our analysis, we cannot conclude that there is any significant correlation between change in CEO pay and excess returns.

We also found that companies with the greatest increase in CEO pay earned only median levels of excess returns.

Three years ago, the TSE's Corporate Governance Committee released the report of its landmark study on corporate governance. The TSE adopted the committee's 14 recommendations for best practice guidelines, improving the standards in Canadian boardrooms across Canada.
