global investment professionals

We are active investors, move quickly, and roll up our sleeves to be the best partner in helping entrepreneurs fulfil their vision.

Where we invest

We partner with founders with bold missions, looking to expand their product offering, scale geographically, and become the leaders in their markets. We invest across North America, Europe and Asia. We frequently lead rounds but can also participate as a co-investor with like-minded partners.

We are mission-driven, provide long term capital and are fully aligned with entrepreneurs. We don’t have a cap on how much we can invest or limits on how long we can invest: our portfolio exists to give Ontario Teachers’ enduring exposure to a high returning asset class and serve as a diversifier in our overall asset mix.

We care about building sustainable companies with good governance, set up to successfully go public if they choose to. We have the resources to guide our portfolio companies to become generational businesses. These include sophisticated governance playbooks that have been well-tested in multiple jurisdictions and teams and contacts within Ontario Teachers’ to help bring those playbooks to life.

We are also LPs in some of the world’s top venture funds and like to partner and support the next generation of top venture capitalists globally.

What sets us apart

We are leveraging 30 years of experience investing across multiple asset classes to help our portfolio companies shape a better future.

Long-term
flexible and
steady capital

We are flexible in investment size and structure, investing in Series B onwards with a minimum initial cheque size of $50m and a willingness to go up to $250m. We frequently lead rounds but can also participate as a co-investor with like-minded partners. We don’t have a cap on how much we can invest or limits on how long we can invest; our portfolio exists to give Ontario Teachers’ enduring exposure to a high returning asset class and serve as a diversifier in our overall asset mix.

Global
capabilities
and network

Ontario Teachers’ has an extended global portfolio of direct investments across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia and owns a number of companies including potential partners, customers and acquirers of our TIP portfolio companies. TIP thinks globally and acts locally through our direct presence in San Francisco, Toronto, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Mission and
values driven

We invest to shape a better future for people and planet, and take great pride in our responsibility to provide retirement security for more than 330,000 teachers across Ontario. Our mission to pay pensions over multiple decades means that we have a long term perspective and that our capital can be flexible and grow to suit the interests of visionary entrepreneurs.
