Appointment notices – Senior Investment Executives
Jim Leech, President and CEO, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (Teachers'), is pleased to announce the following change to the senior leadership of the fund's Investment Division. All positions continue to report to Neil Petroff, Executive Vice-President, Investments and Chief Investment Officer.
Andrew Claerhout
Senior Vice-President, leads the Teachers' Infrastructure Group, overseeing acquisitions and asset management globally. He joined Teachers' in 2005 and was most recently Vice-President, Teachers' Private Capital, for the consumer, retail and industrial sectors. Mr. Claerhout earned his HBA at the Ivey Business School at Western University, completed the Stanford Executive Program and has ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Ziad Hindo
Senior Vice-President, heads the Tactical Asset Allocation & Natural Resources portfolio at Teachers'. His team oversees the execution of equities trades, commodities and foreign exchange as well as physical investments in natural resources. Mr. Hindo joined Teachers' in 2000 and was most recently Vice-President, Global Opportunities and Natural Resources. He earned a B.Sc. at the University of York, a M.Sc. from the University of Warwick and is a CFA charterholder.
Wayne Kozun
Senior Vice-President, is responsible for Teachers' Fixed Income & Alternative Investments portfolio, which includes Teachers' global hedge funds. Mr. Kozun joined Teachers' in 1995 and has held various positions including most recently Senior Vice-President, Public Equities. He holds a BESc from Western University, an MBA from the Ivey Business School and is a CFA charterholder.
Jane Rowe
Senior Vice-President, leads Teachers' Private Capital, and has assumed additional responsibilities for the organization's international strategy pertaining to its expanding physical presence, as well as the Long-Term Equities group. She also joins the board of Cadillac Fairview, Teachers' wholly-owned real estate subsidiary. Prior to joining Teachers' in 2010, Jane held progressively senior roles at Scotiabank and its affiliates. Ms. Rowe received a B.Comm. (Hons) from Memorial University, an MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business and has ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Michael Wissell
Senior Vice-President, leads the Public Equities program, including internally and externally managed portfolios and Teachers' Relationship Investing team. In support of these activities, Public Equities also monitors the corporate governance practices of the companies in which Teachers' invests. He joined Teachers' in 2002 and was most recently Senior Vice-President, Tactical Asset Allocation & Natural Resources. Mr. Wissell holds a B. Comm. from Carleton University, an MBA from McMaster University, an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and is a CFA charterholder.
With $129.5 billion in net assets as at December 31, 2012, Teachers' is the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada. An independent organization, it invests the pension fund's assets and administers the pensions of 303,000 active and retired Ontario teachers.
