Appointment notice - Matthew Smith
Ron Mock, President and CEO, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (Ontario Teachers'), is pleased to announce that Matthew Smith has been appointed Managing Director, Talent. Mr. Smith reports to Beth Tyndall, Chief People Officer, and is responsible for developing and delivering a fully integrated talent strategy.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Mr. Smith spent almost 20 years at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, where he was most recently Vice-President, Talent & Learning, for the global organization. Mr. Smith holds an MBA from Athabasca University.
Ontario Teachers' is Canada's largest single-profession pension plan, with $180.5 billion in net assets at June 30, 2017. It holds a diverse global portfolio of assets, 80% of which is managed in-house, and has earned an annualized rate of return of 10.1% since the plan's founding in 1990.
